Decorative Mug

This decorative mug was made using a bottle to mold the clay. Using a bottle made it look neat and more professional. Part of the assignment was to have the design on the mug blend into the handle. I chose to place a flower on my mug. I wrapped the stem around the mug and continued it into the handle. The colors are very light and muted, but contrast well against one another.

Pinch Pot

                    003.JPG        002.JPG

This pot was created using a pinching technique.  I started out with a ball of clay and had to pinch the edges, creating a hole in the middle.  Through shaping and pinching, the ball of clay turned into a square bowl.  I attached three round feet to the bottom and clay flowers on each corner.  The glazing colors didn't come out exactly the way I pictured, but I'm still happy with the result. The rustic colors give it a vintage feel that I really like.

Wire Sculpture: Flamingo

This brightly colored wire sculpture flamingo was my first project in ceramics. I made the body and the head three-dimensional to add dimension and to give it a more complex and interesting feel. The feet were the hardest part of the project and took some practice before they turned out right. The wire is tough and not very easy to bend so the curves of the feet were very difficult. It was also hard to make them symmetrical with each other. However, I think my project turned out well and I'm satisfied with the result.
